Eco-Council Assembly – One-Day Immersive Experience
Objective: To engage students in simulating an environmental council, where they debate, draft, and advocate for eco-friendly policies, empowering them to take a leading role in driving sustainable change.
Overview
Eco-Council Assembly is an action-packed, one-day event designed to introduce students to the complexities of environmental policy-making. Through debates, collaborative discussions, and policy drafting, students step into the shoes of decision-makers, understanding the challenges and opportunities of implementing sustainable practices. All participants will earn the title of “Eco-Council Member” with certificates to mark their involvement. One student will be chosen as the “Eco-Policy Ambassador” to represent their school in wider environmental initiatives.
Schedule for the Day
- Welcome & Orientation (30 minutes)
- Implementation:
The day begins with an introduction to the concept of an Eco-Council. Students are split into groups representing key stakeholders such as policymakers, environmentalists, business leaders, and community representatives. Each group is given a role brief to guide their perspective during the day’s discussions. - Objectives:
- Set the stage for an engaging exploration of environmental decision-making.
- Familiarize students with the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders in eco-policy.

Each group presents their stance on a pressing environmental issue, such as waste management, renewable energy adoption, or pollution control. Moderated debates follow, with students defending their perspectives while finding common ground with other groups. - Objectives:

- Activity 3: Council Assembly & Voting (1 hour)

Each group presents its refined policy to the entire Eco-Council. Policies are discussed and voted on by all participants, simulating a democratic decision-making process. The most popular policy is adopted as the council’s official resolution. - Objectives:
- Teach students the importance of consensus-building and majority rule.
- Empower students to see their voices as impactful in shaping community decisions.

- Reinforces democratic principles and collective responsibility.
- Encourages confidence in public speaking and advocacy.

- Eco-Pledge Signing & Awards Ceremony (30 minutes)

Students collectively sign an Eco-Council Pledge to uphold and advocate for sustainable practices in their communities. Certificates are awarded to all participants, officially designating them as “Eco-Council Members.” One standout student is named the “Eco-Policy Ambassador,” recognized for their leadership and vision, and tasked with representing the school in future initiatives. - Objectives:
